Llamado And Dehado: The Two Roosters

Llamado and dehado describe the two roosters in a match, not the people betting on them. The llamado is rated the stronger bird and carries the shorter side of the logro line; the dehado is rated the weaker bird and carries the more generous side.

1. Llamado — favoured, shorter odds, higher stake required to win less.
2. Dehado — underdog, longer odds, lower stake required to win more.

Neither label is fixed to a particular rooster before a match: the crowd and the kristo settle on which bird is llamado and which is dehado as the betting line forms.

Sabong Meron Wala Meaning: The Two Betting Sides

Meron and wala name the crowds, not the roosters.

Logro, Kristo And How A Bet Gets Matched

The logro is the odds line itself — 10-8, 10-9, even money — called out loud rather than printed. A kristo works the floor between the meron and wala crowds, reading shouted amounts and hand signals to pair one bettor’s stake against another’s at the agreed line.

Problem: a newcomer hears “sampu-walo” shouted across a pit and has no idea what it commits either side to. Fix: read it as the logro line 10-8 — the dehado side risks the smaller number to win the larger one, and the llamado side risks the larger number to win the smaller one, exactly as a kristo matches it.
